Manifest 2005

"Manifest", the Melbourne Anime Festival, was on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I've never been to anything like it, but they say that there's a first time for everything. (Technically, they're wrong, but this time it was a Sunday.) I met my cousin, [info]kinky_kitteh, in the city, and I paid for our admissions. I am a good cousin, starting today. My brother was also there, having caught the train earlier, and also on Friday and Saturday. (He really likes the series called Naruto. I'm not really into it because subtitled stuff isn't quotable.)

This is the first girl that let me take her picture. Actually, everyone I asked did. People spend a long time on these costumes. I was looking at some stuff at some vendor's stall later, and she walked up and stood really close, like, her shopping bag was jabbing into my legs. I tried to read her pre-booked nametag to find out her name, but I'm pretty sure that it said "Whatever". I decided that her name is Whitney.

There were a lot of people dressed as Chi from Chobits, which I have actually read! This was the best Chi costume that I saw, and I only could have been more convinced had she been a little younger.

I thought that this girl looked cute, so I asked to take her photo. Some guy that was with her offered to take a picture of us both. This was a good trick that I will have to remember. Y'see, I would have taken a full-length picture, but he took the one above. The next time that I don't want some guy to take a picture of a girl that I'm accompanying who is wearing a short skirt, I will offer to take the photo.

Incidentally, at least a dozen people made reference to my shirt. Everything from, "Hey... it's that guy!" to "Can I take your photo? My friend made a Strong Bad badge, but she left it at home," to "Trogdor!"

I would have liked the sky to have turned out better, but it was really that colour.

I think that it may have been a battle to see who could handicap themselves the most in a Dance Dance Revolution showdown. The girl in the floor-length dress, who held it like that the whole time, won. The game graded her as A, and graded him as E.

I would like to go to some kind of festival/convention/thing like this, but not necessarily anime. Not quite my cup of tea. Glad you had a good time though :)

I've only been to one anime convention. The Yasumi Con in Miami. I went with two of my friends. One of them dressed up as Chi. It's the cutest costume! But it's really exciting to see everyone dressed up.

I wish so badly that I could find an anime convention or something and dress up totally and such, because I REALLY like dressing up, but I don't really like anime that much... but I LOVE dressing up!!! I wish I could have a costume everyday...

I kid you not, there were four girls that looked like you. They could have been your sisters or something. It was spooky!

That girl!

Yeah, sorr, either me or my friend took that photo (can't remember who) but I'm guessing now it was probably him as he sucks at full body shots! If you check the Manifest forums I posted a picture in that thread of me with her and full body.

Re: That girl!

If, in fact, it was not incredible cunning, I have still learnt this move of incredible cunning for future use! Thanks to you or your friend!

The Strong Bad shirt has become the unofficial uniform for my faux twin brother, Darren. I felt that it was the most appropriate thing that I could have worn to Manifest, though if I had have had a 'Stinko Man' shirt, which is the anime version of Strong Bad, I would have definitely worn that instead!
